I am Free

“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

Freedom begins and ends within your mind.
Just like everything else that happens in your life.
It all comes down to a story you tell to yourself.
Take a look at the cage you trapped yourself in.
The one that's built from your wants and desires.
A structure that limits your world, but also makes it easier by taking away responsibility.
You use pre-designed structure without ever questioning or denying it.
Change takes too much energy that you need to struggle with your thoughts.
You're reinforcing the cage by fighting it.
The more you struggle the more real it gets.
But in reality there is no cage.
You are free.
The only problem is that for your mind freedom can be terrifying.
Because what we want is just illusion of freedom.
We want to stay with things that are familiar.
We want to watch the freedom from a distance while coming up with all sorts of excuses not to get up and take it.
Not to leave the cage of false safety.
Not to admit it's not real.
And it has never been.
